Justice Scalia attended the Inauguration yesterday wearing a replica of St. Thomas More's hat, a gift to the Justice from the Thomas More Society of Richmond, Va. More, of course, was a high-ranking lawyer in the administration of King Henry VIII who became a martyr due to his Catholicism and his opposition to his king's break with the ecclesial jurisdiction (not doctrine, technically - that came later, under Edward VI and Elizabeth) of the Catholic Church.
